Danielle Godfrey

Founder & Personal Safety Specialist

Danielle Godfrey is the founder of Girl Aware and a Personal Safety Specialist with over a decade of frontline policing experience.

Growing up in country Victoria, Danielle later worked throughout Melbourne and surrounding suburbs during her policing career. Her experience across both regional and metropolitan communities—along with periods of overseas travel and backpacking—has shaped her understanding of personal safety across a wide range of environments.

Alongside her policing career, Danielle also spent more than ten years working in the fitness industry, teaching both adults and children through schools, community organisations, and workplaces.

As a mother of three, Danielle has a deep understanding of the importance of equipping young people with the confidence and skills to navigate the world safely. By combining professional expertise with real-world insight, she delivers workshops that are trauma-informed, age-appropriate, practical, and empowering—supporting girls and women to build awareness, confidence, and strong personal boundaries.

Danielle holds a Diploma of Policing, an Advanced Diploma of Police Investigations, and Certificates III and IV in Fitness, along with additional training in personal training, community services, and mental health. She founded Girl Aware with a clear mission: to help girls grow up aware, confident, and empowered to trust their instincts and navigate the world safely.

Danielle’s Approach

What began as a passion for helping girls feel safer and more confident has evolved into an approach grounded in experience, care, and purpose. Girl Aware workshops are shaped not only by what is taught, but by the intention behind how it is delivered.

Danielle takes the time to understand the unique needs of each group, creating sessions that are trauma-informed, practical, and supportive. Each workshop is designed to help girls and young women build awareness, trust their instincts, strengthen their boundaries, and leave with skills they can carry into everyday life.

Practical & Real-World

The focus remains on real-life application—providing clear strategies, usable language, and practical personal safety skills that participants can remember and apply with confidence.

Trauma-Informed & Respectful

Every workshop is delivered in a way that feels supportive, age-appropriate, and respectful of each participant's lived experience, confidence level, and personal boundaries.
